A new offering from Tour Edge for 2009 is the Tour Edge Exotics XCG-V driver, a driver with one of the largest faces in the business. With lofts of 9.0, 10.5, and 12.0, this club offers perhaps the widest choice in vertical flight off the tee. The 45 inch shaft is relatively easy to keep on plane on full swings, and with a 460cc volume head, it should give even the weak swinger longer, straighter tee shots. The larger face is more forgiving of mishits, and the magnesium crown which allows more weight adjustment to put the center of gravity where it is more effective for your swing, should give you longer, straighter, and more satisfying results on those long hole tee shots.

The face construction is such to minimize spin, allowing straighter shots, and the bane of a golfer’s existence, the vibration and off-plane swing of the longer shaft, can be dealt with by having the shaft custom fitted to your body shape and swing speed. The 45 inch shaft is the standard length for men’s drivers, but a competent pro shop can adjust your shaft to suit. You don’t, however, want to go much less than 45 inches, as this will drastically reduce the distance you can achieve and relegate your driver to 3-wood status.

The number one selling point of the XCG-V is that it is already available in prices that are reasonable. Originally retailing for around $350, it can be ordered from discount golf suppliers for $200 - $300, and there have even been a couple offered on e-Bay for less.
