The Cobra ZL is such a club. The ZL stands for ‘zero limits,’ and the design and construction of this club lives up to that title. It has adjustable flight technology, with three settings of neutral, open, or closed for better control of your ball flight. The head shape is optimum for maximum ball striking surface and forgiveness of the off-center hits, and the milled rhombus face insert gives a relatively spin-free surface for the ball to come off. This multi-material engineered club could be the one that conquers your fear of drivers forever.

The 46 inch shaft might be a little long for the inexperienced golfer, but you can install separate shafts (a 45 inch shaft might be a good starter length), and separate weights to adjust the center of gravity to optimum for you. The club comes in lofts of 8.5, 9.5, 10.5, and 11.5 for a good choice in vertical trajectory off the tee. Again, novice golfers might be advised to stick to the higher loft, but if you play a windy course, the 8.5 loft is ideal for getting those Tomahawk Missile ground hugging shots to get under the currents.

The ZL came out November 1 with a hefty price tag of over $400, but if you have the time to shop around some of the discount golf equipment web sites, you should be able to get one for significantly less.
