The driver is not the most important club in your bag – until you need to get distance off the tee – then it is indispensable. It is also one of the most intimidating clubs, though, and a lot of golfers sacrifice distance because of their fear of the driver.

Cleveland is known for a fine line of clubs, and among them is the Launcher DST driver. Lighter in weight than standard drivers, it has variable face thickness for better results on off-center impacts. Weight is low in the club head giving a deeper center of gravity. This allows you to make straighter shots off the tee; very important on courses with tight lies and narrow fairways.

The DST’s 460 cc head and 45.75 inch shaft will add up to 10 yards to your normal drive. Lofts of 9.0, 10.5, and 12.0 enable different launch trajectories. The 12.0 loft is highly recommended for novice golfers, while the more experienced golfer can really shape low, under the wind shots with the 9.0 loft.

The longer than normal shaft can be a bit of a challenge to a golfer who has problems maintaining a consistent swing plane, but a good pro shop can fit you with the standard 45 inch shaft if this is a problem. Unfortunately, that extra .75 inches also makes several yards difference in where your ball will land.

The Cleveland Launcher DST retails for a little over $200, making it expensive, but not one of the most expensive drivers. Overall, a good investment if you want to see improvement in your total game.
